JeepClub Events
JeepClub aim to cater for all levels from the beginner or 'newbie' in a road standard Jeep to those of great experience with modified vehicles. For the needs of those new to Jeep ownership we can give professional advice, tuition and support. Our events are beginner friendly and even at our rare hardcore off-roading activities or competitions we try to always make provision for 'Newbies'. Although our expertise centres around late-model Jeep vehicles - Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Commander, we have members with models right back to the original WW2 MB and all are welcome to our events. In fact, you don't even need to own a Jeep to be a JeepClub Member. We promote a safe and responsible attitude to off-road driving and exert no pressure on our members to tackle obstacles they do not feel comfortable with. Help and advice is available at every step and the key to the concept is the informal atmosphere. As a service to members we also list events from other clubs and organisations. These may not be suitable for those in unmodified vehicles or with less experience - If anything listed here is not a JeepClub event please check with the organisers to see if it is suitable before booking.
2001 Archive
- Wales Laning - Saturday 20th January 2001
Led by Vince Cobley, MD of Pro-Trax and famous within the Land Rover community for some of the best national and international events, this weekend allows you to re-trace ancient routes through the Welsh mountains, with breathtakingly views of beautiful areas that no-one other than very intrepid walkers, hill farmers and forestry workers are likely to share.
- Moordown Farm - Saturday 12th May 2001
Organised at the last minute as a replacement for our Cleeve Hill event (cancelled due to foot-and-mouth), our Moordown Farm event saw the return of classic Jeep Club weather.
- Tuff Terrains - Saturday 9th June 2001
Tuff Terrains, run by Bernie Pugh, is a Club favourite. Located in Llandrindod Wells, the site offers a unique mix of obstacles, capable of challenging drivers of every skill level without alienating others.
- Run to the Sun - Sunday 17th June 2001
We nearly had to call this trip 'Run through the Rain' instead. Checking the weather reports that morning revealed that the day should be dry. As usual, we were lucky, and even managed to see some sun a few times during the day.
- West Harptree - Saturday 30th June 2001
Rapidly becoming another Club favourite, the West Harptree site is regularly used by both Jeep UK for their "Jeep Skills" days and the All Wheel Drive Club. It provides a wide range of off-road driving environments, with mud, stone-covered tracks, hills, etc - more than enough to keep the experienced off-roader happy whilst still providing plenty of challenging terrain for the less experienced.
- Beltring Hop Farm - Saturday 14th July 2001
Cancelled due to flooding last year, our trip to Beltring Hop Farm, the site of the War and Peace Show, is back on. It's a 20 acre muddy site, with separate wooded areas alongside the River Medway. The site is entirely non-damaging and ideal for newbies, but with more challenging man-made obstacles in the centre for the more advanced.
- Run to the Sun II - Sunday 29th July 2001
We're banking on a late summer! And what better way to enjoy the sun than a Jeep trip to the beach.
- Woodlands Training - Saturday 25th August 2001
We have arranged for the exclusive hire of the Woodlands site (near Brands Hatch, Kent) to provide a Club-only Training Day on Saturday 25th August, designed to cater for all skill levels.
- Whitecliff Quarry - Saturday 15th September 2001
Our last trip to Whitecliff Quarry proved to be very popular, so we've organised a return visit in September.
- Seven Sisters - Saturday 29th September 2001
We've booked a weekend at the Seven Sisters site in Wales for September 29th-30th.
- Slab Common - Sunday 7th October 2001
Slab Common, near Bordon in Hampshire, is another army training ground similar to Broxhead Common. The larger of the two sites, Slab Common is used to teach tank recovery techniques - upside-down tanks can often be found around the site!
- Wessex Safari - Saturday 27th October 2001
Our third Wessex Safari, this archaeological tour of the area around Stonehenge is a perfect introduction to green-laning for those new to off-road driving. The Safari is ideal for those with new and showroom-fresh vehicles.
- Broxhead Common - Sunday 11th November 2001
Broxhead Common is a large, sandy, MOD training site, with enough variation and challenge to satisfy drivers of all skill levels.
- Tuff Terrains - Saturday 24th November 2001
The Tuff Terrains site, located near Llandrindod Wells, Powys, is a favourite of the All Fours Jeep Club. The site offers something for everyone, although a minimum requirement of Mud Terrain tyres is advised.
- Wild Tracks - Sunday 16th December 2001
Wild Tracks, near Newmarket, Suffolk, is recognised as one of the top off-road sites in the country. The site comprises several challenging trails which include a combination of mud, water, sand, hills, water troughs and a see-saw.
